2022 In Review

This is the first time I am writing an annual review. After I completed this exercise, I realised that it was totally worth it to look back at all the events of 2022.

I will break this review in multiple categories like health, travel, business, fitness (specifically running), and other wins and new habits.

Health

On the health front, the year started with covid infecting the entire family. January was a complete washout because of it. Recovery was good but I personally did have health challenges during the entire year. The focus remained on eating well (meh!) and exercise. Once we recovered, We started working with an online personal trainer and have recently moved to working with a personal trainer in a gym. The focus for 2023 is going to be on monitoring our health, reducing body, increasing strength, and learning more about the human body.

Travel

We did one international trip to the UAE with family. My goal is to take my mother for one international vacation each year. The highlight of this trip was our stay at Al Maha, one of the luxurious properties in Dubai entirely free. Locally, we travelled to Bangalore in May for a 10k run, Mysore in July where my wife attended a month long yoga certification course, Coorg in September for my birthday where I fell sick and was sleeping for the most parts. I also went to Pune to attend a 3 day course on Behavioral finance by Sanjay Bakshi. We ended the year with a trip to Goa to attend a friends wedding.

Business

It was an awesome year. I started the year by merging my Business with my friend Nishant from Delhi. We have tripled our business in 2022 and look forward to bigger milestones in 2023. It has kept me more accountable and focused. I am sure we will do great things in the future.

Running

I ran a total of 1243 Kms and was active for 225 days. Not bad but not better than 2021. I can blame it on covid and subsequent bouts of poor health. While I did participate in 3 half-marathons during the year and a 10k in Bangalore, I could not beat my personal best of 2021. Hoping to do that in the upcoming Tata Mumbai Marathon. My goal for 2023 would be to run 2,500 kms (if my coach agrees).

Reading

I think I did not read enough. While I have not maintained a count of all the books I finished in 2022 (something I would like to track in 2023), some of the books that stood out are The Education of A Value Investor by Guy Spier, Soul In The Game by Vitality Katsenelson, both volumes of the Sapiens Graphic novels, and the Davis Dynasty. I am definitely going to keep a track of all the books I have read in 2023 and update them on the blog here.

Other Wins And New Habits

  • I successfully started and monetised a Youtube channel in 2022. The focus for the channel going forward will to create more long form and timeless content.

  • I have started putting everything on calendar. Even meeting my friends.

  • The plan for 2023 is as follow -
